  DESIGNER " DAN NAMURA"

Dan Namura is a young designer based in Tokyo. He is a descendant of an old designer’s family, with a lineage that can be traced back to famous Yuzenzome craft, the dyeing and weaving of highly skilled Kimono fabrics of Kyoto.

Dan’s work ranges from fabric designs for sofas and curtains among other interior goods, to bags and clothes. He is involved in all creative aspects related to textile design: product planning, design, commodity composition, price policy, visual presentation and sales promotion tools.

Sophisticated textile designing of high quality and creating colourful, graphic print designs, he works for demanding clients such as “NEED’K Textile” and Marui’s successful interior shops “In The Room” He also has his own free creation brand “DAN” with which he participates at exhibitions such as Heimtextil and Ambiente in Frankfurt, and Interior Lifestyle and IFFT (international furniture fair Tokyo) in Tokyo.

As part of the government “Aichi-prefecture revival project” in 2002, he did planning and designing for local weaving mills.

In both 2006 and 2007 he was selected for Interior Lifestyle’s “neON” as one of 8 promising new designers, and in 2008 he was chosen for Tendence’s L.O.F.T. “NEXT” with his brand “DAN”. In 2008 he joined the Trendtable of Heimtextil for "Trend 2009/2010" as the first member from outside of Europe.

His unique ideas are born in workspaces in Japan and India: he takes inspiration from city cultures all over the world.
